We are helping collect and providing transport for collections for Villalobos Rescue Center - New Orleans. Some of you may be familiar with Tia Torres (Pit Bull & Parolees on Animal Planet) and her rescue efforts. Long story short... (you can watch this season to get caught up on the specifics) Tia and her family have moved to New Orleans. Villalobos Rescue Center - New Orleans is only one block from the post Katrina SPCA on Japonica Street. I know there are some very strong feelings about Pit Bulls and Parolles... I have had an ear full in the past few weeks and I appreciate the feedback. Bottom line for me is that not only is Tia helping pull Pitt Bulls off of our streets but she is working hard to educate our community. I applaud her for both. Also, she is a rescuer... not only Pitt Bulls but whatever she finds and whomever finds her.

If you can help support by donating some of these wish list items, they would really appreciate it.

You can either leave them for us to pick up or email and I will pick them up for you!

It is still so hard to imagine the pain and suffering that went on at the Convention Center in the days after Hurricane Katrina. Every time I pass this I think about all of the lives lost and the failure of the government to help the citizens of New Orleans at that time. It disgusts me.

"January 17, an overwhelmed rabbit owner brought 27 rabbits to the Louisiana SPCA (LA/SPCA). Surrendered because of temperament issues and out of control breeding each rabbit will be examined by the LA/SPCA veterinary team, assessed for behavior, and evaluated for adoption. This large scale owner surrender has put a strain on the LA/SPCA resources. Equipped to handle up to five rabbits at any time the LA/SPCA is in need of water bottles, rabbit food, hay, and other supplies to give these animals the best care possible. Additionally, spay or neuter surgery for a rabbit is a specialized procedure requiring a special skill set.

The LA/SPCA is asking the community to help with this influx of rabbits. Due to the care each rabbit needs donations are welcome. Each rabbit would benefit from one on one socialization; foster care parents are needed to socialize the rabbits in preparation for a forever home. Additionally, the LA/SPCA is getting the word out that these rabbits will be available for adoption soon. Interested rabbit owners can contact the LA/SPCA at 504-368-5191 to learn when the rabbits are ready for a permanent placement."

The sweet darling baby got into some rat poison in the yard... no idea where it came from, who put it there, etc,... Mom and big sister are watching the baby carefully but we need some prayers, positive thoughts, good vibes, etc... Hit your knees y'all!

All clear! The baby is fine y'all. Thank goodness... Great reminder to walk your yard occasionally to make sure someone did not toss something in that you are not aware of.
