24 hour old Lab

Our newest baby... xena
OH MY!
The runt of 15 and can't get "a spot"'.
Poor darling...

Thank goodness Mommy is a Doctor.
Monday might be a bit of a challenge.

We have a house guest...

Dr. Mommy is working hard so I am -
helping hold down HQ!

Happy Birthday to my little Derek

I was nine years old when we adopted Derek.  I vividly remember the day he arrived as our Foster Child.  I walked in and picked him up and very rarely put in down from that point forward.  For years my Mom always said "Niki - put him down or he will never learn to walk".  In 1976 my Parents were determined to give Derek a home to adopt Derek vs Foster only, but it was a fight.  It was not "acceptable" in the eyes of the State of Louisiana.  It was not easy but they stood their ground and fought. I was always so scared they would come take him away before he was adopted... that is how my nine year old mind worked. The day he was adopted was one of the best days ever.

I know it is abundantly obvious... I love him so much and so very proud.  He will always be my little Brother, and one of my greatest blessings.  Happy Birthday Derek.  I love you.

ONE BLOCK... 12:30PM... So upsetting

Activity Alert

Still another incident has occurred in the Garden District. NOPD reports that a A 60-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint on Carondelet and 8th Street on Thursday afternoon around 12:30 p.m. He was approached by a man with a black handgun who took his belongings and fled, according to the preliminary information released.

Watch out for each other y'all...

My very best friend whom I love more than I have words... should be working BUT instead sent this with a note - "totally for your brain".

I can't decide if it is a compliment or not.

5 Things Parents Need to Stop Saying to Non-Parents

5 Things Parents Need to Stop Saying to Non-Parents | John Kinnear:

I could make another one that people should stop saying to adopted people:

I can't tell you how times I have heard these...here are a few gems.

  1. Do your parents have any real children?
  2. Do you have any real brothers and sisters?
  3. Do you know your real parents?
When you are little... those questions work on your little mind and you never forget them.

My baby Brother

Ellis Marsalis and Derek.

When I saw this photo, it brought tears to my eyes.  The smile on Mr. Ellis' face is such sweet validation... I have no words to describe how my heart felt when I saw it.

Derek is so talented and has been so blessed by Mr.  Ellis. Few can say they have lived the experience of playing with an American Jazz icon and I remember Derek's first gig with him when he was a Senior in High School and has played with him from that point forward and has been around the world and back with him - more than once.

My darling little Brother... one of my greatest blessings.

My focus may be lacking...

When I get a farm I am going to have a pool.
TOTALLY GETTING THIS.
on the corner of 8th & Prytania having farm dreams...

Walker's dream...

Three different gaits, walking in sync!

Aloha

Our baby H went to a party at Camp Bow Wow yesterday.  How cute is that skirt?!  Love her... Best Mommy... made her skirt!  Awwww

Henri has her doing it...

Literally will stand in front of me until I feed them again.

Ahlitta North memorial fund...

If you are moved to help the family of the Ahlitta M. North a Memorial Fund (in her name) has been established and you can give at any Capital One Bank.

For those of you not in NOLA, she would found dead in a dumpster and the "person of interest" has been arrested.

This email made me laugh this am...

"... was looking at Derek's photos on facebook.  How funny that you both have one the dimple on the same side of your face..."

When I introduce him to people and they are taken aback I always say "can't you see the resemblance?"

I will pay for transport!

Please share! Sasha is looking for her forever home.  She is a 5 month old lab/Golden Retriever(?) mix and is one smart cookie! I suspect she will be medium size once grown.

She is 100% vetted and spayed and will be adopted out with a two month supply of Heartguard.

Sasha is just the calmest soul. She loves pretty collars and playing with the kids, but her favorite pastime is SNUGGLIN' in your lap. She is a puppy though! She is working on potty training (doing GREAT but if she gets busy she might have an accident) and she knows "get in your crate" and "lets go outside" like a champ. She adores kids, dogs, cats, ferrets, chickens - you name it! She adores people and when you call her name she comes running to you like it is Christmas. I can honestly say I have yet to meet such a wonderful, calm puppy such as her. Everywhere we take her, people comment on how calm and sweet she is. She is a love muffin!!

If you are interested in adopting Sasha, please email: cookiesforkaiser@sbcglobal.net for an adoption application. Southeast Texas location.
