The Irish Channel St. Patrick's Day Club will hold its 66th Annual Mass and Parade celebration on Saturday, March 15th, 12:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Assumption Church (corner of Constance and Josephine Streets) followed by the parade (corner of Felicity and Magazine) at 1:00 p.m.

April 5th                    Meet the “Canine Coffee Crew,” sponsored by the LA/SPCA will be held at Café Luna, located at 802 Nashville Ave., from 10:00am-noon and HEY CAFÉ, located at 4332 Magazine St. from 12:30pm-2:30pm.  LA/SPCA volunteers will be on hand to introduce you to a variety of shapes, colors and sizes of four-legged friends eager to find a new home.  So, come out and sip a cup of java and have a little coffee-time with a furry friend.  Call 368-5191 or visit la-spca.org for more information.

April 5th                    “Kicking for K-9's"-Kickball Tournament-at St. Patrick's Park (440 S. St. Patrick) across from Mid City Yacht Club.  A fun day of kickball in the park with your pets.  Teams as well as individual players are welcome to attend.  The event begins at 9:00am with teams competing in kickball games then the teams with the best record will advance to the playoffs.  Event time 9:00am-4:00pm.  Registration for the event is $15 and teams and players can register athttp://southernsportsleagues.com/tournaments.  For more information please contact Southern Sports Leagues atinfo@southernsportsleagues.com or 571-481-0820.  Food and drink are also available for purchase.  Proceeds benefiting the LA/SPCA.

April 5th                    Puppy Tales Neighborhood Pet Adoption sponsored by the LA/SPCA will be held at Rosa Keller Library & Community Center, located at 4300 S. April 6th                    Pet First Aid/CPR Course, sponsored by the LA/SPCA will be held at the Louisiana SPCA, located at 1700 Mardi Gras Blvd. from 9:00am-12:30pm.  Find out what to do if your dog suddenly stops breathing or your cat cuts her paw on a piece of glass and more.  This hands-on training course will teach you the basics in animal handling, restraint, pet first aid and CPR using realistic animal mannequins.  Taught by a Red Cross certified instructor, you will learn what to do in common emergency situations prior to seeking veterinary care.  Course fee is $65 and pre-registration is required to secure a seat at la-spca.org.

April 6th                    BARK IN THE PARK at Zephyr Field, Fleas on 1st, Paws on 2nd, Tails on 3rd
Treat your dog and the entire family to a day at the ballpark with the New Orleans Zephyrs.  Sunday, April 6, 1:00pm, (Gates open at 11:30 with a pre-game strut at 12:40).  Sit in the stands or watch the New Orleans Zephyrs play the Colorado Sky Sox from the levee with your family, friends and best four-legged buddy.  Guests are encouraged to bring their four-legged friends and watch the game from the Levee or they can enjoy the game in a “humans-only” reserved seat in the stadium.  The first 1000 fans will receive a pennant courtesy of Raising Cane’s and the Zephyrs have partnered with local businesses to provide giveaways and information about services for your pets.  Booths will be located behind the Coors Light Party Shack.  Also, adoptables from Gulf Coast Doberman Rescue, Louisiana Boxer Rescue and MORE!!  Levee tickets are $6.00 per person (dogs welcome), reserved stadium seats are $10.00 or $12.00 per person (sorry, no pets).  50% of the proceeds of Levee tickets benefit the programs and services of The Louisiana SPCA.  Call 504.734.5155 for more ticket info.

April 12th                         Critter Cinema, sponsored by the LA/SPCA will be held at the Louisiana SPCA, located at 1700 Mardi Gras Blvd., from 6:00pm-9:30pm.  Great fun for animal-loving, pizza-eating, movie-watching kids!  What better way to end the week than getting cozy with kitties & puppies, enjoying G-rated critter movies, making friends with other young animal lovers and snacking on pizza & popcorn at the LA/SPCA!  For kids ages 5-10, please feel free to bring a sleeping bag, pillow and PJs.  $30 per child.  Pre-registration is required, please call 368-5191, ext. 207 or e-mailhollie@la-spca.org.  For more info visit la-spca.org/crittercinema

April 13th                   PALM SUNDAY RABIES VACCINATION DRIVE IN ORLEANS PARISH
Sponsored by the Louisiana SPCA and the Southeast Louisiana Veterinary Association, the Palm Sunday Rabies Vaccination Drive will be held from 1:00pm-5:00pm on Sunday, April 13 at the following locations:

Engine 7 Fire House at 1441 St. Peter St.
Engine 12 Fire House at 5600 Franklin Ave.
Engine 17 Fire House at 4115 Woodland Dr.
Engine 24 Fire House at 1040 Poland Ave.

Engine 27 Fire House at 2118 Elysian Fields Ave.
Engine 35 Fire House at 964 N. Carrollton Ave.
