Life saved!

We posted (on Facebook):  Meet Beau aka The Beau-Beau and Beauregard!!

He is an 11 yr old Walker Fox Hound who is looking for a great, new home! Beau weighs approximately 45lbs. His hobbies include: jogging, cleaning the kitchen floor, watching football, and snuggling. He is a very sweet, sweet boy who just wants to be a pet and be loved! Not much of a shedder. Leash and collar included! He is trained to sit, stay and shake.

They both look so happy...

We picked up that post last week and shared it with a certain client and that certain client... GOT HIM!  We love y'all C&B and can't wait to meet him.  Hunter looks so happy too.

It takes a lot of courage to adopt a baby who is 11 when you have an elderly baby that has his own health battles.  I adore y'all!

Hi Mommy!

Every day...

Bradley comes to Canine Connection, give one of us a shot and takes both of us for a long walkin and lets us go back to play!

Can I now? Can I now? Can I now? Look at my face...

You talkin to me?

Pamela has another sick baby...

This is Lilly and she is a sick little girl.  Firstly, please send positive vibes, pray, cross fingers and paws... whatever you do for her.  They just lost a baby and now she has another sick little girl.

You know, I brag about my Team all the time.  If they were not brag worthy, they would not work here.  As you can imagine, this weekend is extraordinarily busy.  We always have a plan B for each and ever member of our Team.  I would have executed plan B and still paid Pamela as if she were seeing those clients so that she could join her husband at the Emergency Vet for the hour it may take.  Or, worse case, we could have emailed/text those clients to say we are running behind due to a 911.  Pamela REFUSED.  When I tell you - when she has responsibility for your kids, she treats them just like her own and would not even consider any of the options other than making sure your kids are taken care of and by her.  I am so blessed to have her.  They have had so much piling on lately and it breaks my heart for her.  She could use those vibes too.

Cocoa Mulch from Target

Please tell every dog or cat owner you know. Even if you don't have a pet, please pass this to those who do.

Over the weekend, the doting owner of two young lab mixes purchased Cocoa Mulch from Target to use in their garden. The dogs loved the way it smelled and it was advertised to keep cats away from their garden. Their dog (Calypso) decided the mulch smelled good enough to eat and devoured a large helping. She vomited a few times which was typical when she eats something new but wasn't acting lethargic in any way. The next day, Mom woke up and took Calypso out for her morning walk. Halfway through the walk, she had a seizure and died instantly.

Although the mulch had NO warnings printed on the label, upon further investigation on the company's web site,

This product is HIGHLY toxic to dogs and cats.

Cocoa Mulch is manufactured by Hershey's, and they claim that "It is true that studies have shown that 50% of the dogs that eat Cocoa Mulch can suffer physical harm to a variety of degrees (depending on each individual dog). However, 98% of all dogs won't eat it."

*Snopes site gives the following information:http://www.snopes.com/critters/crusader/cocoamulch.asp .asp>

Cocoa Mulch, which is sold by Home Depot, Foreman's Garden Supply and other garden supply stores contains a lethal ingredient called 'Theobromine'. It is lethal to dogs and cats. It smells like chocolate and it really attracts dogs. They will ingest this stuff and die. Several deaths already occurred in the last 2-3 weeks.

Theobromine is in all chocolate, especially dark or baker's chocolate which is toxic to dogs. Cocoa bean shells contain potentially toxic quantities of theobromine, a xanthine compound similar in effects to caffeine and theophylline. A dog that ingested a lethal quantity of garden mulch made from cacao bean shells developed severe convulsions and died 17 hours later. Analysis of the stomach contents and the ingested cacao bean shells revealed the presence of lethal amounts of theobromine.

Cool, shade!

Ms. Pamela loves you!
