I choose to put my darling Remy to sleep on January27, 2008. The 26th was a hard day and night for him and while my house was full of Carnival visitors, I stayed inside with Remy. Sunday the 27th was Barkus in the Quarter and we had three parades on our route. Remy and I stayed in his bed all day with the back door open listening to the crowd and the music. I will forever be grateful to our wonderful Vet for letting me put him to sleep at our home. I have the opportunity to talk about that experience with lots of people. I always say - it was the most comforting and peaceful experience of my life. He was no longer in pain and no longer living just to make me feel better. Barkus Sunday is still hard for me... I love him and miss him so much. My sweet Remy...
