Heads up y'all!

The New Orleans Police Department is investigating two sexual assaults that were reported on Napoleon and Jackson avenues in recent weeks, authorities said.

In the first case, a 23-year-old woman showed up at the hospital the evening of March 12 and reported that she had been the victim of a sexual assault around 9 p.m. March 10 in the 400 block of Jackson Avenue, near Tchoupitoulas, according to the initial police report. The case was assigned to a sex-crimes detective, and is currently classified as a simple rape, which state law generally defines as a sexual act in which the victim was in some way incapacitated, but the perpetrator was not the one who caused the incapacitation, through violence, drugs or other means. No further information has been released on the case.

Around 8:45 p.m. Wednesday (March 20), a separate incident was reported in the 1000 block of Napoleon Avenue. Two sexual battery cases there and a third attempted sexual battery involved juvenile victims all from the same perpetrator, also a juvenile, said NOPD Officer Garry Flot. The victims knew the suspect in the case, Flot said, and an arrest is expected.

Since those cases were reported, two more simple rapes have also been reported in Uptown New Orleans, one around 4:30 a.m. Friday in the 4900 block of Danneel Street, and another around noon Saturday in the 1100 block of Jena. No information was immediately available about those cases.
