Patrick's abuser given probation... PROBATION, NO JAIL TIME.

Thanks DH for sharing.

From NJ SPCA Facebook page...

Patrick's saga began back in March of 2011 and many of you have followed his recovery / transition and the long drawn out legal process. Thank you to the maintenance worker who found Patrick lying near death and who did the right thing. Thank you also to the Associated Humane ACO who transported Patrick to the Associated Humane Shelter where a very dedicated Vet looked into Patrick's eyes and saw a will to live, stabilized him and made a brave decision to transport Patrick to Garden State Veterinary Specialists. GSVS accepted Patrick into their amazing facility and Patrick's long recovery began which many of you witnessed here on our NJSPCA FaceBook page. Thank you to each and every GSVS staff member who lovingly nursed Patrick back to life. Thank you to Dr. Scavelli and Pat Scavelli for loving Patrick and fostering him over the last two and a half years as a member of your family. Thank you to NJSPCA Law Enforcement Division staff Sgt. Al Peterson was the lead Officer on Patrick's case and his investigation led to the eventual arrest and charges of animal cruelty against Kisha Curtis. The long legal road that we all endured together finally culminated with the defendant pleading GUILTY in July. Thank you to the Essex County Prosecutor's Office for your continued focus on this case and thank you to Judge Cassini for making sure every single issue was addressed properly and for your handling of this matter. While the delays were difficult for many to understand the Judge and the Essex County Court system made sure that this case moved forward. A final thank you to all that followed Patrick's journey, wrote letters, sent emails, showed up at court, shared the Patrick posts, got involved in helping animals because of Patrick, adopted an animal because of Patrick, helped spread Patrick's story, prayed for Patrick and to all that followed Patrick's journey here on our NJSPCA FaceBook page......Thank you. You are all amazing animal advocates who understand that it really is all about the animals. Capt is proud of each and everyone of you. Just sayin.......Capt
