Heading to New York in January?

The Preservation Resource Center has been preserving and restoring New Orleans' cherished architectural heritage and neighborhoods for thirty-five years. They are hosting a fantastic event on January 14, 2010 at Sacks Fifth Avenue in New York featuring (my brother) Derek Douget Quartet with Irvin Mayfield. If you are heading that way... or have friends that may be able to support this fantastic organization... we would love to see them there!

So disappointing...

Due to City budget constraints, Louisiana SPCA cutting services in month of December
New Orleans (November 27, 2009) – December 1, 2009, the LA/SPCA will suspend all non-emergency animal control services to Orleans Parish. Without City funding for December, the LA/SPCA will provide emergency animal services only: Emergency animal services include critically injured animals and cases where an owned dog has bitten a human. This reduction in services is a compromise agreed upon by the City Administration when the contract outlining animal control services was signed in February 2009. Animal control services being suspended until a new contract has been agreed upon for 2010:
Stray animal collection (including dog packs)
Stray dogs threatening humans (not biting) at a home or place of business
Trapping of domestic or wild animals
Removal of wildlife in homes
Collecting animals from owners who can no longer care for them and do not have transportation
Code Enforcement (leash laws, rabies verification . . .)
