Maxwell need us!

Maxwell is a young Yorkie with a broken or fractured pelvis. He was so matted that he had to be shaved down. The shelter does not have an x-ray machine, so we are asking for a rescue group to take Maxwell to get him the care he needs. This little angel can bear weight on his back legs, but it is painful so he prefers to sit. Dr. Jeff reports that it appears he was attacked from behind. Eugene's Happy Tail
Roaming in a New Orleans neighborhood, Eugene was picked up by a Louisiana SPCA Animal Control officer. Smelling of urine and in desperate need of a bath, his hair was matted down to the skin. After being taken to the shelter, Eugene was examined by Dr. Kerry, the LA/SPCA veterinarian. His exam revealed that he was missing all of his teeth and had abscesses along his gums. Eugene was cleaned up and had surgery to take care of the abscesses in his mouth. Once he had time to recover, he was put on the adoption floor for a few days. Ultimately, it was decided that Eugene would benefit from foster care where he would be in a home and have the opportunity to get exposure to potential adopters outside of the shelter. By now, Eugene had become like a local celebrity at the LA/SPCA. Volunteers and staff loved the little guy for his toothless smile and his lovable personality. While in foster care, a happy hour was held at a local bar and several LA/SPCA adoptables, including Eugene, were brought to the location. It was love at first sight for Eugene and his adopters. After a meet and greet, arrangements were made for a formal adoption to take place back at the LA/SPCA. Eugene has come a long way since he first arrived. The care he received at the Louisiana SPCA was a step in his journey to finding the perfect family and wouldn't have been possible without the help of his dedicated foster mom. We are very grateful for all of the foster families that take animals into their households. We recently received an update from Eugene's new parents and he is adjusting very well to his new home. There are still countless animals that are looking to find their forever families, to view the animals currently up for adoption at the LA/SPCA please clickhere.

Enjoy A "Dog Day Afternoon"

Dog Day Afternoon is just a few days away! On Sunday, April 7, the Louisiana SPCA hosts Dog Day Afternoon at City Park’s Big Lake Lawn. The festival portion of Dog Day Afternoon runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is free to the public. The Gatsby Strut, the walk-a-thon now in its 31st year, kicks off at 12 p.m. Dog Day Afternoon benefits the animals of the Louisiana SPCA with the majority of funds being raised through The Gatsby Strut. Day of festival attractions include live music by Burger 'N Fries, a margarita/beer bar, food court, pet friendly vendors, and dog contests where pooches will be competing for Best Dressed, Owner/Pet Look-alike and Silly Pet Tricks! Dogs up for adoption from the Louisiana SPCA and local rescue groups will also be on site hoping to find their forever homes. Can't make it to the actual event? You can still donate online to help the animals of the Louisiana SPCA by visiting la-spca.org/dogday.
CEO Corner
Ana Zorrilla 1There are several establishments throughout the City of New Orleans that allow pets on site and we see that many residents bring their animals to enjoy that perk. At the Louisiana SPCA, we are lucky to work in a pet friendly environment and whenever possible, we like to lend that quality to our events.
Dog Day Afternn celebrates the connection between humans and our four legged friends and what better way to spend a beautiful spring afternoon than outside at the park with your pup. The event is not only free to the public but also pet friendly as long as your dog is on a leash.
Whether you’re walking in The Gatsby Strut or listening to music on the grass, we hope you come out and enjoy the afternoon with us!
Woofs and Wags,
Ana Zorrilla

Wow - that is not good!

and on Good Friday... Irony.

Play with me!

Bradley told her that Mommy is on the way home...

all smiles...

So exciting!

We have literally been on "baby watch" once a month this year!  It is always so exciting to see bags packed and parents ready to head to the hospital.  I don't mind middle of the morning calls for such occasions!  Baby C is ready to welcome the new baby!  Countdown!

Good point...

I admit it... I hide those with political views I just don't want to hear!

O-U-T!

Bradley does this to ya!
