Cara's House - Ascension Parish

Cara's is located on Airline Highway in Gonzales and in a low lying area on Bayou Francios/New River. They tend to and can flood with just heavy rain. They are hoping to move 35 pets and are looking for support. These events have trickle down effects... If they can move these babies, they can take babies when the storm clears and SW Louisiana supports Texas and so on...

These people understand what Hell and High Water is... They understand because, just like NOLA, they have been there and done that.

The Story

We have 35 cats/kittens/dogs/puppies leaving on transport in the next two days heading up north to find their forever homes! We are very excited about the opportunity for these dogs/cats to go on transport but it is a tremendous cost for Cara's House. We will be driving one of the transports ourselves so we will also have the additional costs of fuel, hotel, etc. This fundraiser will help cover the cost of health certificates, rabies certificate, etc. as well.  Any amount would be greatly appreciated in helping us cover the cost. Thank you for your continued support; we simply could not do these transports without your help!!!!

Golden Tickets!

Gene Goldring is absolutely amazing. She is responsible for saving 46 lives today.  And that is just today! She coordinated a transport for flood babies to Jackson Hole, Wyoming with Dog Is My Co-Pilot. I pulled this photo from her Facebook wall. If not have not already, please visit her non profit organization page - The Inner Pup of New Orleans.

WWL did a segment about it today.

I know I go on and on about Gene but for good reason... she makes a difference and this city is blessed to have her.

Grace & Hope

I just had the most amazing thirty minute phone call with our babies Mom. I adore her... The girls are having some belly issues but other than that, things are going well. They have made contact with the kitty cats so - so far so good. I would bet CAS (Mom) does not feel this way but I feel like she is part of my family now. I could not be more thankful that they saved our little girls.

I know I have to let them go but it is super hard! I am going to work on becoming more Elsa like!

It UM!

Grace and Hope's Parents did not introduce the girls to the cats lastpm...

I am so nervous! Waiting to hear if I need to drive to New Jersey to pick them up!

I had to bring my girls to YaYa yesterday...

My time has come to an end with these two sweet little things.  I had a ball with them and I am so thankful that they found a Mom and Dad in New Jersey that wants them so very badly.

I loved having them and I am so thankful that my client and friend, Del was willing to help me take on this rescue and my Cousin, M for allowing me to take them.

They are leaving New Orleans soon and they have a wonderful life ahead.

I love you little girls...

The bayou babies...

They have to be touching and how they get any rest is beyond me. They sleep paws up!

Sweet Grace and Hope (paws up)

Hope is going to have a neck problem...

When one moves the other one moves...

Grace does not care that Hope's paw is in her ear.

Em got another baby!

No more crying!

The girls are out of surgery and waking up. They ended up putting them together prior to because they kept crying. They put cones on them and put them back together. I can't wait to get them tomorrow. I made them promise they would not turn them over to any one but me! (They are still listed as Lamar Dixon Barn 1 rescue)

Isabelle hates them but I love them already!

Poor babies... I was so upset when I left them!

They have been crating together but they separated them. They both started crying when they did. It was the most noise I have heard from them. The Vet decided to keep them tonight which I know is best but I don't have to like it.

My office mates... The bayou babies

The girls are living large in the Garden District in preparation for spay day tomorrow. We have some fantastic news y'all... the girls have two options for homes. One family in New Jersey is really interested in both girls and we are so hoping that everything works out with them. If not, a dear client and friend, Gene Goldring, has them scheduled on a "Dog is my Co-Pilot" flight to Wyoming. They are taking 40 dogs with them and making stops along the way... It is an amazing organization and I will be forever grateful for Gene and the pilots that make these transports possible.

So - our babies have a home!
