Gulf Coast Oil Disaster: How WE Can Help to help - Audubon Society

http://www.audubonaction.org/site/PageServer?pagename=aa_HowtoHelp

Three clients all sent this to me today... They really need support!

I'm volunteering at a fundraiser for a woman who was recently diagnosed with leukemia. I'll be there from 1-3:30 p.m. It's a dog wash/nail clipping/boutique fundraiser to raise money for her medical care. I've attached the flyer. The nail clipping will be done by a pro, so no worries there. Please spread the word.

NO!

It is stinging worm time! This one was at City Bark without a permit so, I picked him up with a #2 bag and tossed him over the gate!

If you do not see my face...

You may not notice that I am a chair!

More Legislation - from LASPCA

LEGISLATION

With the proper laws, ordinances, and enforcement options in place our government can improve the quality of life for our four-legged and two-legged citizens. We are often called upon to give our opinions and lend our expertise to the formation of these laws and ordinances. See below for what is going on now in government and click here to see a list of ordinances we currently enforce.

Intact Dog Ordinance

The LA/SPCA supports this ordinance for several reasons. We hope you take a moment to review the ordinance and let your council person know how you feel. Show your support on May 6, 2010 at 10a.m. in the City Council meeting, we'll see you there.

My belly is getting better!

Today is the day...

URGENT! Very important animal protection bills
will be heard in committee in Baton Rouge
THIS Thursday, April 29th.

HB 219, HB 829 and HB 201
to be heard! Please contact members of the House
Criminal Justice Committee NOW and ask that they
vote in favor of these bills. Get their contact details
and learn more on our web site.

Many wonderful pro-animal bills have been introduced to help animals this legislative session. You can help by contacting your legislators and asking them to support these important measures. Special thanks to our longtime friend and supporter, Representative Tony Ligi, who has introduced a measure to increase the penalties for the crime of animal poisoning this session. The bills we are supporting would:

  • SB 73. (Senator Heitmeier, (D) - Algiers)
OUTLAW THE GAS CHAMBER AT ANIMAL SHELTERS - would require that only lethal injection be used to euthanize shelter animals. This would end one of the terrible practices at rural shelters, which we have documented for years. (PASSED SENATE COMMITTEE! Contact your Senator to support.)
  • HB 313. (Rep Gary L. Smith, (D) Norco
MANDATE BREEDER FEES TO SUPPORT SHELTERS - would require all breeders to pay kennel fees set by parishes or municipalities; proceeds would be directed to shelters.
(PASSED HOUSE COMMITTEE! Contact your Representative to support.)

Track animal protection bills this Legislative Session on the NEWS section of our web site. Get up to date information on what you can do to help, with Senators and Representatives to contact and more!

You can make a real difference in helping to get this legislation passed by faxing, calling and emailing your representatives about these bills. Read the bills and track their progress online just by putting in the number of the bill or the author's name. You can also contact your state senators and representatives on the site, and if you don't know who your representatives are, find out his or her contact details from your zip code.
