Snug Harbor ~ Friday @ 8p

This will be fantastic! I hope you will watch.

On Friday at 8 p.m. — the time Marsalis started his first set, until he finally retired in December — saxophonist Derek Douget, bassist Jason Stewart and trumpeter Ashlin Parker are slated to play an hour of Marsalis’s music online. They’ll be performing remotely from their respective homes, with the virtual collaboration being livestreamed on the Snug Harbor Jazz Bistro’s Facebook and Instagram pages.

For those that get push notifications - If you are at Jazz Fest please check out Lagniappe Stage at 11:30. Derek is a Director of the Don "Moose" Jamision Heritage School of Music and his students are about to take the stage!

He plays his usual set with Ellis at 1:35.

Lets hope we can all get in some great music before it starts raining cats and dawgs!

My darling friend and client... Nynx 2015

DH came over this morning to bring this beautiful purse.  I took one look at it and could not stop crying.  She knows the first way to my heart!  Thank you so much DH.  (I cried again when I showed it to Erin!)

You are amazing!  (I am starting to cry again...)

My little baby Remy...

This is one of the only photographs of baby Remy that survived Katrina.  Derek will kill me if he sees this.

Thinking a lot about my sweet Remy today...  My baby, my muse, my first love.

Ellis Marsalis Lifetime Achievement in Music Award Winner

What a beautiful blessing Mr. Ellis is to Jazz, our city and to my darling little baby brother (@6:05). I am ever so thankful that the stars aligned and Derek was placed in my Mom & Dad's hands.  I am ever so thankful that I was placed 9 years earlier and that my little Derek is in my life.  I can't image life without him.  I am also so thankful that Mr. Ellis heard Derek when he was in High School, became a mentor and Derek has been with him from that day forward.

Lifetime Achievement in Music: Ellis Marsalis

Fantastic read! Derek was "recruited" by UNO when he was a Junior in High School.  From his first year forward, he has been playing with. Mr. Marsalis.  I always get overwhelmed when I see the thousands gathered inside the Jazz Tent, shoulder to shoulder to hear Mr. Ellis.  I love going to Snug Harbor on a Friday and seeing a line that goes from the stage door to outside of the door and down Frenchman.  Mr. Marsalis...  what a story.

The only thing that would make this a better club... if it was called "diet"

He will always be my "baby bother".

@  Dizzy's

"Happy 80th Birthday to jazz legend, Ellis Marsalis! We couldn't be more excited to have him at Dizzy's this weekend. Watch a free live webcast tonight. Sets at 7:30 & 9:30PM EST.

"It’s one of those weekends where you may not want to leave the Rose Hall jazz multiplex: at Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola , jazz’s most celebrated patriarch, Ellis Marsalis, is celebrating his 80th birthday with a quartet of fellow New Orleanians (of a much more recent vintage)." - The Wall Street Journal"
