“Martha Speaks” Doggie Day C.A.R.E. (Come And Read Event) sponsored by WYES & the Louisiana SPCA will be held at the LA/SPCA, located at 1700 Mardi Gras Blvd., from 10:00-12:00. Meet Martha, watch a screening of “Martha Speaks,” read to an adoptable dog, bathe a shelter puppy, make dog treats, meet an animal behaviorist, enjoy refreshments and more. An Adoption Affair, sponsored by the LA/SPCA will be held at St. Anna’s Feast of St. Francis Animal Blessing, located at 1313 Esplanade Ave., from 12:00-2:00. LA/SPCA adoption counselors and volunteers will be on hand to help you select the right pet for your family. A variety of shapes, colors and sizes of four-legged friends eager to find a new home will be available for adoption.
